So we’ve moved on to memorizing Psalms 119:9-11 and we understand that the question: How can a young man keep his way pure, is satisfied by 1) guarding our way by His Word, 2) by seeking Him with our whole heart, so as to not wander from His commandments 3)by storing up His Word in our heart so that we may not sin against Him. These propositions all have one common theme when distilled down and that is discernment. To live a life that is honoring to God we must be discerning. We must be able to distinguish good from evil, to be able to understand and apply God’s direction accurately.

Next week as we move on to understanding the inerrancy of God’s Word we can see why God’s Word is so dependable in light of its accuracy, but for right now I’ve included a link to a message that establishes the number one issue that the church deals with today and that is discernment. Ultimately discernment reveals where we will spend eternity so it is incumbent that we understand. Please take the time to copy the link and listen to it I am convinced you’ll be encouraged and see even clearer why we read, meditate and memorize Scripture. The message is a little over 50 minutes long but I’m convinced you will agree it will be time well spent.

Ps 119:9–11
9 How can a young man keep his way pure?
By guarding it according to your word.
10 With my whole heart I seek you;
let me not wander from your commandments!
11 I have stored up your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you.
