Post Modern Mindset (#6)

So we’ve memorized John 8:31b and 8:32 and we’ve looked at knowing and living the will of God as revealed in Romans 12:1-2. We’ve looked at giving an answer for the hope that lies within, the exclusivity of Jesus, the urgency and motivation for sharing this message and established that simply saying Jesus is Lord does not equate with knowing He is Lord, knowing Him or even realizing you’re a sinner. We have hopefully understood that this is propagated by not only the flesh but the enemy of our souls who is busy blinding and deceiving. This Scripture underlies how the enemy has continued to propagate his lies.  This week is brief but I want us to understand that this is not a new angle. This is actually revealed in Genesis 3 “the fall”.

3 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the LORD God had made.
He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” (Gen 3:1)

This week we are only memorizing “Did God actually say” but I want you to remember that Eve followed up with what God said, but the enemies response was: 4 But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.
This pattern of deception is no different today, only the faces have changed. Notice and remember the BIGGEST LIE is the one closest to the truth.  Let that sink in “Did God actually say”.  Remember initially I made a statement about “half-truths” which really are lies shaped as half-truths. The enemy has not changed his strategy.  Questioning what God has indeed said never seems to go out of style.

Many of you that know me, know that I recommend “The American Gospel” movie. I really recommend it because I spent 5 years in the Word of Faith movement. Those 5 years of partial truths, also known as lies has taught me to despise half truths because they are lies contrary to what God has actually said. This is packaged under the heading “Christianity” but in its wake nothing is left but more confusion and death.  Words from God that have no agreement with Scripture, are as common as the people who profess them.  As we memorized a long time ago in John 8:31b-32 that we would know the truth because we were abiding in God’s Word.  The point is the “Post Modern Mindset” has one of the enemy’s best works.  Saying that he would ascend (Isa 14:13-15), Satan has brought this same attitude to the table in “Who does God think He is?” Rather than God having an answer for us in His Scriptures, the enemy has attempted to turn the table where somehow God must answer to us.  He does not have to answer to us, but make no mistake we will answer to Him.

The problem is if you have been convinced that somehow God has to answer to your Post Modern Mindset, you don’t know the Truth.  The answer is if you need saved God has been gracious to provide One to those who are in need of a Doctor (see John 14:6).  Do you know the TRUTH?
